A homemade lip scrub will save you this embarrassment as you can take it along with you anywhere you go.

A homemade lip scrub will help clear off the dead skin cells on your lips leaving it smooth, soft, supple, and kissable, *winks*! Lol.  They are perfect for priming your pout for that perfect lipstick or gloss application in order to achieve that much-desired slay. I will not forget to let you know that they are amazingly easy and cheap to make by yourself.

The damage and dryness you feel on your lips could be as a result of weather change e.g. UV-radiation from the sun or coldness, incorrect care, or stress and it is important to know how to properly exfoliate your lips. Using a homemade lip scrub to exfoliate once or twice a week will help cleans your lips thus making them look healthier than ever.

Coconut and Honey Homemade Lip Scrub


  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil
  • 1 tablespoon organic honey
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/2 tablespoon lukewarm water


  • Start by mixing the coconut oil and honey.
  • Add the brown sugar and the lukewarm water to this mixture.
  • Rub the mixture on your lips in a circular motion for two to three minutes and then rinse with lukewarm water.

NB: Coconut oil has a lot of antioxidants and fatty acids that provide nourishment to the skin, while brown sugar acts as a natural exfoliator that helps remove dead dry skin. Honey is rich in natural healing properties and skin hydration.

Bubblegum Homemade Lip Scrub


  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 1-2 drops of strawberry extract
  • Rose-pink food color
  • Follow with a lip balm.


  • Mix the sugar and olive oil in a small bowl.
  • Add the strawberry extract into the mixture and blend well.
  • Add a few drops of your food color according to your preference and stir well.
  • Apply this scrub with a clean finger, and let the exfoliating sugar scrub away any dead skin.
  • Follow with a lip balm.

NB: This delicious lip scrub is a sweet treat for your pout. The sugar removes dead skin cells to reveal healthy skin underneath. Extra virgin olive oil hydrates and seals moisture into your lips. The color part is only to make this bubblegum lip scrub as attractive as it’s tasty.

Shea Butter Sugar Homemade Lip Scrub


  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon shea butter


  • Mix the shea butter with sugar till you get the desired consistency.
  • Apply generously all over your lips and scrub for one minute.
  • Wash with lukewarm water.
  • Follow with a lip balm.

NB: Shea butter contains vitamins A and E, both of which moisturize and soothe chapped lips and dryness. Sugar acts as the perfect natural exfoliator to go with the shea butter.
